![]() My 4 week renovation has taken 6 months costing me an extra 2k in storage fees (thus I care not for verbal promises for the future, it's what's written down that counts.) 2) Neither add to or subtract from what you have agreed with the builder. This is what I have learnt and highly recommend: 1) Have a contract with the builder with a time frame specified for the work and a penalty clause. Thanks again for the suggestions everyone :) The ceiling lamp shade will be replaced with something a bit more original (this was fitted in a rush when we moved in, with no thought behind it!) All the speakers will go, as I don't think they look right in the room, and will be replaced with more descrete ones :) We are keen to replace the TV stand with Skovby TV unit and a display cabinet (in white oak), so a similar idea to what was suggested by Sauve :) thank you! Haven't decided on the 'behind the love seat' arrangement just yet. I'd also like to either match the wall paper or a few pictures on the wall to the ottoman (colour-wise) for some continuation. And I'd like to move the existing rug behind the love seat. I'd like to replace the love seat with a couple of chairs (as the love seat is quite chunky, and does dominate the room as you walk in), but I can't justify spending the money on that just yet :( I am planning to buy a bigger rug (thank you for the suggestion, ren2513), I do love the white/cream as we have now, but will go for something with a bit more colour through it, and definitely replace the coffee table with a bright ottoman (thinking something along these lines at the moment colour Measham,Ochre). Unfortunately, the sofa does not fit quite right againt the opposite wall, neither does the love seat by the window (I've measured everything up and the sofas are of the wrong sizes). OK, here is what I am thinking at the moment. I do agree, dark furniture does make it seem very dull though. I think the pictures don't do the room justice. Thank you everyone for your great ideas! Actually, the room is not as dark as you think - the window is east facing, and we do get a good deal of sunshine through it. But hey! it looks great and generates questions on Houzz, so I guess it has its uses, right?!! :)) I've resorted at hoovering it just rinsing it with water didn't do it. If you wanted details about the make of the tub - this is a Clearwater natural stone bathtub: subcat=395 I can tell you another downside of it: if you ignore the waste of space and water, you can't ignore the amount of dust that accumulates in it. I also thought it could be a great hiding place in case of 'god forbids': fill half of it with water, add bubbles and submerge - it's enough to cover all of you & hopefully nobody will think to look for you in there! :)) I've digressed. I'm 1.62m (about 5'4'') and with a slight bend of either knees or neck, you can sleep quite comfortably in there. So we went for a large one, I guess both thinking of our almost decade old adventures'! I did however undertake an experiment for you: I went and laid in it, just to see how it is. Plus, I feel guilty and uneasy thinking of the amount of water I'd waste filling up that monster (and we have a second tub in the loft bathroom that's smaller - never used that one either.) When we chose the tub, I think hubby and I were a bit nostalgic I used to have this huge hideous burgundy corner bath in the house I bought just before we met and let's just say, we used to like taking baths together (hmmmm.). ![]() I'm a shower girl and it's not that I won't take a bath (I would, I promise I'm not whiffy!!) it's just that since we've moved in, I never had the time or felt the need. The truth is: I've never used it! not once. I have to be honest and admit that I was thinking about lying and saying it's great, etc.
